Beta Doubles Down On Motocross With All-New 250 RXF For 2027

Beta's motocross ambitions have taken another significant step forward with the unveiling of the 2027 RX range, headlined by the arrival of an all-new 250 RXF four-stroke.

While Beta has built a loyal following in enduro and off-road circles over the past decade, the Italian manufacturer has been steadily investing in its motocross programme. The new 250 RXF is perhaps the clearest sign yet that Beta is serious about challenging the established players on the MX track.

Joining the existing 450 RXF four-stroke alongside the 250 RX and 350 RX two-strokes, the new model has been designed and manufactured entirely in-house at Beta's Florence, Italy headquarters.

At the heart of the 250 RXF sits a completely new 249.3cc dual overhead cam four-stroke engine featuring electric start, dual-injector fuel injection and a lightweight piston design inspired by Formula One technology. Beta says the goal wasn't simply to build another 250 motocross bike, but to create one that stays true to the company's long-standing RideAbility philosophy — delivering strong performance without sacrificing rider confidence or control.

The new engine is packed with premium components, including a forged crankshaft, forged connecting rod, magnesium covers and an all-new five-speed gearbox. A dual-injector system, with injectors positioned in both the throttle body and airbox, is designed to optimise fuel delivery across the rev range, improving low-end response while maintaining strong top-end performance.

Despite the impressive specification, Beta claims a dry weight of just 101kg, placing the 250 RXF among the lightest bikes in the class.

The electronics package is equally comprehensive, featuring five-level launch control, traction control, quick-shift functionality and dual engine maps, all controlled via an integrated handlebar-mounted switch assembly.

450 RXF Gets Factory Racing Technology

The larger 450 RXF returns for 2027 with significant upgrades of its own.

Most notable is the addition of launch control and quick-shift technology, bringing the bike's electronics package into line with the new 250. The 450 also benefits from a new tapered 42mm throttle body developed through Beta's AMA Supercross and MXGP race programmes.

According to Beta, the updated component increases airflow velocity and volume, delivering improved low-to-mid-range power and sharper throttle response.

A redesigned handlebar control unit allows riders to quickly adjust traction control, engine maps and launch control settings depending on track conditions.

The 350 RX Continues To Stand Alone

Beta's unique 350 RX two-stroke remains one of the most intriguing motorcycles in the motocross market.

As the largest-capacity production two-stroke motocross bike currently available, the 350 RX occupies a niche all of its own, combining traditional two-stroke simplicity with a broader, more tractable power delivery.

For 2027, the model receives a new lightweight piston design that reduces friction and delivers a claimed 1.5 horsepower increase.

The smaller 250 RX also receives attention, with revised gearing aimed at improving starts off the gate.

Both two-stroke models gain a stronger muffler and switch to Dunlop's latest MX34 tyres.

Updates Across The Range

All four RX models benefit from a number of detail improvements for 2027, including a stronger rear chain guide, revised front sprocket guard, softer grey grips with embossed Beta logos and a lightweight aluminium rear subframe.

New black and red graphics complete the package, drawing inspiration from Beta's traditional racing colours.

Beta Rippers Programme Launches

Alongside the new motorcycles, Beta has also announced the upcoming launch of its Beta Rippers amateur racing programme.

Developed over the past three years, the initiative is designed to provide aspiring racers with a pathway into motocross and off-road competition. Full details are expected to be revealed during the RedBud National in the United States on July 4.

A Serious Statement Of Intent

The introduction of the 250 RXF represents more than just another model launch.

For a manufacturer traditionally known for enduro motorcycles, it signals Beta's growing confidence and commitment to motocross. With a completely new four-stroke platform, continued investment in racing technology and a unique range that still includes the market's only 350cc production motocross two-stroke, Beta is rapidly establishing itself as a genuine alternative to the mainstream MX brands.

The 2027 Beta RX range is expected to arrive in New Zealand in late 2026, with local pricing to be announced closer to launch.
